If you’re a regular here you’ll know that my posts are dedicated to personal growth and that I talk a lot about being unstoppable yet I have never actually taken the time to define exactly what I mean by this term.
Of course the term immediately conjures up images of real momentum and being unbeatable in every regard.
My personal definition is not about beating everyone else though it’s about beating our own inner demons.
Its a powerful phrase and one which evolved in my own head on my personal quest to change my life and develop myself. In my quest for self discovery , the term, whole, balanced and unstoppable came to me and has now become deeply embedded within my subconscious.
As a mantra it builds courage, persistence and commitment as well as passion and purpose but it has also brought me self understanding and self awareness . As we come to align with our true nature then I firmly believe we take on the energy of what it means to be unstoppable.
So what am I referring to when I speak of being whole first?
Wholeness suggests completeness. It is taken from the Saxon word ‘hal’ from which we derive hale or whole. In fact hello actually means to wish wholeness on someone as we greet them.
I have come to appreciate that we all carry all potentials within us. We have the potential to do anything we want with our lives through our thoughts, feelings and actions. But we are far more than just a mind and a body and when we can properly harness our spirit or our soul if you like, we have the chance of greatness. We are at a point of transformation.
As individuals we all have the potential to display either side of our duality. We can be generous or selfish, productive or lazy, loving or hurtful, courageous or weak. Wholeness is not about denying any aspect of ourselves it is all about learning how to live at a more elevated level and integrating all those aspects . Now that’s not about believing you’re better than anyone else, far from it. When we fully appreciate we have within us two sides that need to recognised to come into balance we actually become more compassionate in nature. We refrain from judging others and we begin to understand spiritual problems often lie at the heart of mental or emotional distress.
We begin to appreciate that service , giving before we receive, is an important component of our authentic success.
We develop psychologically and spiritually and begin to activate whole brain thinking which is the ability to access our more right brained intuitive side for inspired creativity along with our left brain logical rational mind which leads to self actualisation. In basic terms, we know ourselves, understand ourselves and from this basis are better able to make the right decisions that bring deeper meaning, fulfillment and purpose to our lives.
So wholeness is literally coming to terms with all of who you are and that discovery is both liberating and expansive. Your outside and inside world begin to line up as you recognise that you are the ultimate creator of your past, present and future.
Wholeness is an expansive energy and as we grow we become more independent free spirits, free from social conformity externally and free from the confines of the ego mind internally and the self limiting beliefs that it brings . We appreciate and celebrate our individuality but understand we are all part of one synchronised , organic, interdependent Universe.
Without wholeness there is no balance and without the first two aspects there is no consistent self belief that builds an unstoppable attitude.
Balance teaches us that every aspect of our life needs consideration and investment. Without balance there is no internal harmony and disharmony brings emotional turmoil, potentially portraying itself as a lack of self confidence, low self esteem and self doubt. Without harmony we live in our heads too much, constantly analysing , over-thinking bringing with it real anxiety and worry. We compare and contrast and get caught up with small minded competitive behaviour. We fall into the habit of wanting to always be in control, always be right and always be out front and the loudest voice. Disharmony at its most extreme causes chaos within the delicate balance of the body creating disease.
When we’re in balance with the flow of life, as opposed to fighting what’s happening we find that our values emerge. We begin to truly recognise whats important to us , our health, our family, our spirituality, our personal development as well as our work.
Wholeness and balance bring a more conscious awareness of our dualities and we understand if we want greater time freedom or financial freedom then we have to work towards it through the pursuit of our goals but goals that are in balance with all of who we are and goals that are outrageously big.
It is easy to get lost on the quest for wholeness.
The first diversion is getting stuck in dualistic thinking. That is there must be a right and wrong path or way. Let’s say you acquire knowledge and become a teacher, that does not mean you are no longer a student. The same applies for leaders. The most enlightened leaders recognise they create other leaders not just followers. Wholeness or completeness is about recognising there is no you and everyone else, no separation at all, only ‘we’.
The second area we can then get lost in is the unity fallacy. Whilst at a spiritual level we are all one, at a physical and mental level this is far from the case. We only need look around at society at large to appreciate the inequality and hierarchical structures. at play.
Finally we can sell out on the road to wholeness. We fall into wanting to be fair with everyone and everything and we compromise but in doing so often sell out our own individuality , independent expression and under value ourselves in the process.
I have come to fully appreciate that as we learn more about our inner nature or our true nature, that is, the ability to tap into our own spirit we realise we have always known these truths. At birth we were complete and through our childhood and social conditioning we learned to think of ourselves as separate. It is within the first half of our life that our ego reaches its peak as we focus on our own needs and build our skills, our careers , home life and habits. At midlife we begin to draw the shadow back , to reflect on what we have become and it is then that we encounter our true self.
When we can truly say we are whole and balanced then there is nothing that we are incapable of doing or becoming. We literally can change the world one person, one family at a time. Now there’s a thought !
Watch this it will lift your soul.
